The best valentine I've given was to two very special girls on one very special night. I mean, I was taking my ladies to the most romantic restaurant on the planet; the OG of cozy, quaint and tasty...the Olive Garden. Everything was perfect. The ladies looked lovely. I was wearing my favorite cologne that was going to guarantee me at least a kiss from one, if not both of these lucky gals. The bread-sticks tasted like butter and the all-you-can eat pasta buffet for $5 was my ticket to financial bliss. Even dessert was classy. Tiramisu. Get out of town! I looked across the table at the two of them and the glint in the corners of their beautiful blue eyes was priceless and exuding perfection.

As we were leaving this fine establishment, walking arm in arm, I was on cloud nine and thinking that all future valentines days were going to measure by this night. We approached my white chariot, ready to head to to a romantic comedy that I'm sure made the AFI Top 100 because it was the movie we were going see but then, with one quick stroke of a screwdriver, valentines day was shattered into a thousand pieces and my heart was left empty and meaningless.

Cupid's doppelgänger had stolen my stereo and destroyed my passenger side door (I noticed this side first because I always open the door for my ladies) just when I was going to drop some Marvin Gay. Not wanting my dates to endure the depression that was sure to follow and destroy their valentines day, I drove them to the movie and waited for the 50 myself. Needless to day, by the time I finished writing up my report, the movie was ending. Instead of making out with the two of them, they proceeded to make out with each other and have been lovers ever since.

So while I was victim, I was also able to bring love to the world. That is my valentines day gift.

Well I don't think I can top the last story, but I'll do both a receiving and giving valentine. I know it's cliche, but my hubby surprised me with diamond earrings one valentine's! Definitely the most effort he's put into the holiday thus far.
I think the same year, I made a little scavenger hunt for him that led to the piano, where I played one of his favorite songs that I had secretly been practicing the whole month before.

I am hoping tonight will be the best yet! Dinner with my husband and overnight with no kids(sleeping in tomorrow)!
